With Hurricane Sandy approaching fast please take all campaign signs inside

With Hurricane Sandy approaching fast please take all campaign signs inside

With Hurricane Sandy approaching fast I just wanted to remind everyone to take down all of your campaign signs today. I will be going around town and taking down some of my signs today too. We are expecting gusts up to 60 mph and our poor campaign signs are definitely not strong enough to handle a Hurricane. They can also become a hazard when flying around in high winds!

More importantly make sure you are prepared for the storm. Maine is not supposed to take a …

Former Speaker Hannah Pingree endorses my campaign!

Former Speaker Hannah Pingree endorses my campaign!

Really big news! Speaker Hannah Pingree just endorsed me!
Hannah is an inspiration in many ways but especially because she was elected at the same age.

During this election my opposition has tried to question my qualifications due to my age. Their assertions are baseless. I remind everyone that I am the only one with experience in Augusta and working with folks on both sides of the aisle. For the past two years I have been tirelessly working for a better Maine. I am also following in …

Three wonderful letters from three inspiring women!

The Forecaster published three letters to the editor endorsing me. The letters come from three women who inspire me daily: Devon Murphy-Anderson, Sue Stableford, and Bronwen Crothers.

Devon is a senior in High School and co-organized the SPEAK OUT Women’s Issues event that was a huge success. Devon and Sophie Simmons were frustrated with the lack of involvement of their peers in the political process. The two of them created the SPEAK OUT event to try and fire people up about the importance of this election for women. …

The Clean Water Act turns 40!

The Clean Water Act turns 40!

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act. This bill was a monumental piece of legislation that helped put in place crucial environmental protections. I consider it one of our most important bills. Check out this great article from the Huffington Post that details what the Clean Water Act has accomplished in the past 40 years and the threats it faces today: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/marc-yaggi/the-clean-water-act-at-40_b_1972270.html. Our very own Senator Ed Muskie was a key player in helping to get it passed. This bill would never have …

Letter to the Editor from Rev. Frank Strasburger

Today the Times Record featured a wonderful letter to the editor written about me by the Rev. Frank Strasburger. Thank you Frank for your support.

Frank gets to the heart of one of the key differences in this race. I am the only candidate with the experience to hit the ground running on day one. I already know how to draft legislation and have built friendships across the aisle in Augusta. As your next State Representative I won’t be wasting anytime and will be serving this town …

Maine Education Association endorses my campaign

The Maine Education Association (MEA) has decided to endorse my campaign due to my commitment to public education. I am deeply honored by their endorsement.

In their letter they said: “The MEA Board of Directors voted to endorse you because of your strong opinions and beliefs concerning public education…commitment to public schools and higher education in Maine, and a commitment to the men and women who work hard every day to educate Maine’s students.”

As your next State Representative I will be a strong voice and leader for …

Senator George Mitchell endorses my campaign

Senator George Mitchell has endorsed my campaign. Senator Mitchell was recently at the Brunswick Democratic Headquarters for an event and I got a chance to speak with him (and have my picture taken with him and my friend’s daughter Arden). I am a huge fan of Senator Mitchell’s work and I’m incredibly honored and humbled by his endorsement.

“It is so important now that we unite to restore balance to our state government. We need Mattie in Augusta, to serve the people of Maine, and to help …
