Maine Conservation Voters and Chellie Pingree Endorse My Candidacy

Brunswick, ME - The Maine Conservation Voters (MCV), a bipartisan environmental organization, and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree recently endorsed Matthea (Mattie) Daughtry in her bid for House District 66 in Brunswick.

In her letter to the candidate, MCV Political Director Beth Ahearn, described her organization’s commitment to promoting candidates with a strong stance on environmental issues:

“Maine’s extraordinary environment is the foundation of our good health, good jobs, and quality of life. For over 25 years, Maine Conservation Voters has been making Maine’s environment a priority for voters, candidates and elected officials.  We promote forward-thinking environmental policies at the State House, publish the annual Environmental Scorecard, and endorse strong environmental candidates.  Our board includes members of both major political parties and we employ a full time staff in our Augusta office.”

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree endorsed Daughtry citing her commitment to conservation and the environment:

“We need people like Mattie in Augusta; people who understand the importance of our farms, our woods and our waters. She will work to protect what makes Maine special.”

Daughtry expressed her excitement about the MCV and Pingree endorsements:

“It is an honor to be endorsed by the Maine Conservation Voters.   Maine’s environment is our heritage and what makes the State such a special place to live and raise our families. We have come a long way in protecting our air, land and water since Maine’s beloved Senator Muskie authored the Clean Air and Water Acts in the 1970’s, but there still remains a lot to do, and I will dedicate my Legislative term to working for Maine’s environment. It is a huge honor to have a strong environmentalist like Congresswoman Chellie Pingree endorse my campaign. I appreciate her support and encouragement.”
